I'm going to be as lazy as possible here and say I agree with Keitaro. I have other opinions too, but I'm... lazy? ... yeah, give me a break. I've been sick xD
EDIT: Never mind, I wanna type more. I especially agree on Kei's point that it is just as distracting. People talking can be equally distracting as the internet, and it also has the potential to only make people want to get on the Internet more. Not only that, but people use the internet everyday to do homework and all sorts of things. There are distractions all around us; we can't prevent them all.
As for text for the hearing impared, doesn't that destroy the entire point? I mean, what's the difference between Draga (if I may use you as an example) getting a printed out copy of the podcast, and going to the forums and reading it for herself? It's the same thing.
Yes, it would be entertaining, but it would still be time consuming. I don't know how many people would have enough time to contribute to recordings, so that would leave you, Kaito, and Taro to do a lot of the episodes. And I hate to say this, but Momaru's right. The same people all the time would grow dull, I think. Not because we don't love you, but because of redundancy. But who else has the time to do it? College is incredibly stressful; what happens when you go to college next year, Tusami? You might not have any more time to contribute.
Alternative Suggestion
It wouldn't be fair of me to just complain, but not offer a solution. So here it goes: I think a better alternative (and this is just my potentially flawer opinion) is maybe to release a sort of newletter, summarizing what is happening on the forums: it's less time consuming because only one person has to do it. It's quicker, easier, more concise, and it doesn't matter if you have hearing problems or not. Also, it can get to everyone more quickly. We don't have to worry about tuning in; we just check our email. No, it wouldn't be as entertaining, but we could use that saved time to build up the forums, work on our artwork, other things like that.
Anywho, just my thoughts. ~ Blake

Well, Blake, looks like we lose. Pretty epically, too. Ah, well, ya win some, ya lose some.
Check you faces on the flip side.

Umm I think that it would work out in the end, but as Kei and Erria said, we really really need to have more than three people working on the podcast, at least so things don't get a spin put on them and we get a group of people that are "forum elite". We need to at least decide as a group, not as 3 people who are deciding everything for everyone what goes on the podcast. So, we really need to find out a way to get record different peoples parts and edit them together. This can be done 2 ways that I can think of, through skype (yes, it is possible to record calls made through skype), or by people seperately recording their parts and sending that data on to Tusami for editing. We don't need to make it weekly or anything either! The one I listen to is every 2 weeks, I think that releasing a new episode 2 times a month is a realistic expectation for us. That way we will have plenty of time to record and edit the show. I certainly would be able to find time to work on the podcast if i was doing it this often. I think that this would work at least for most people. Plus, I think that it'd be great if we could add more content to the podcast than just talking about the forums. The final problem to solve is distribution. Where are we going to put it on the interwebs so people can easily download it? Sendspace or something? Unless it is hosted on someones personal web site/ and or server....

Well I thought I'd come back from the dead here and post something. I don't even need to tell you that I've been busy.
So anyways, I wanted to let you know that the podcast has been finished for... like over a month now... and yeah. Well, the thing is that it's a pretty big file and I guess I'll have to compress it a little bit, but the point is that it's been ready to listen to and we just need to find a way to upload it to the internet for downloading. We're looking at different options of where we can host the file but yeah, we've been lazy. I know that Kama listened to half of it and Ani listened to it but that's about all right now. Also, I've discovered it's quite hard and time consuming to type up the entire Eon Podcast for Dana/Ani/anyone else who would rather read it and I've only got half of it done (which is about 25 minutes worth and 17 pages...) so I donno, I might actually listen to Taro and not type it out word for word but just summarize it. Bleh.
Anyways, if you want it, ask and I can try and find a way to give it to you... school is easy through usb, but for everyone else, we'll see. Anyone know of some site where you can upload monster-sized files? And yes, other things I must address. When I said you could listen to it and do homework, yeah. I guess I wouldn't suggest you do it at the same time. I wasn't really thinking but yeah, you'd get distracted. So listen to it during your homework breaks or on the bus or during free-time. Whatever. As for distractions, the podcast can be an alternative than going on the forums where you can be distracted by the rest of the internets. Just to make it more focused. And then for the "elite forum" people... that's not what we're trying to do here. Trust me this is the last thing we want. We have carefully weighted our options and decided which things we were going to include in the podcast based on how recent it was, how important it is to the Eon storyline and its members, ect. There's no way around the fact that we must pick and choose sometimes and we may have missed some important things here and there, but we're trying our best. Most importantly of all though is that we ask for your input. We want YOU guys to decide what goes into the Eon Podcast. This first episode however, we had to make our own choices to kinda get it going, but the later ones are going to be more group run we hope. But it's going to take effort from more than just a few people to make it happen.
And sorry if anything is biased... but that's because it's our opinion! Everything everyone types is biased to their opinion, so I don't think us actually saying our opinions is any different than us typing our opinions. And we also disagree with each other in the podcast. Who says we all get along? On several topics like "Artist of the week" we honor an artist (this includes writers!) for work they've contributed to Eon. We will offer opinions about how good/bad it is. We'll talk about lots of things either about the person themselves, their artwork, whatever. But things like this can't helped but be "biased." We can say: "Our artist of this week is Taro. He did a picture recently called "PAL" and it features his character Taro working at PAL's operation base. Moving on." No, we want to talk about it and give our opinions and comment on how great the coloring job is. But other things like, "Blake put up a post that said we should consider typing a news letter as opposed to a Podcast. Let's discuss." That's something we try our hardest to not bias in any way. I suggest to listen and find out.
Please listen to the podcast not for just entertainment, not just for information, but also for critique. We need to determine what things to make better, change, etc. or just stop doing it altogether. The only way to do that is to listen to it. And just a warning, we did go a little crazy and got off topic sometimes but we covered several topics and discussed things and ranted about things and nothing was resolved but that's ok! We couldn't do too much this episode anyways, but the whole point is to inform and then get everyone involved with discussions. If we keep it going, it'd probably get better as we get better at doing it.
And another thing that's a common misconception, you do NOT need an ipod to listen to the podcast. The podcast is an .mp3 file and it will play just as nicely or your other mp3 player as on your computer.
One more thing, I actually really liked Blake's suggestion of the newsletter. *throws kudos* I agree with its simplicity as compared to the podcast, it could be a much better idea. I like the podcast. I like the newsletter. But we have to see how things turn out. If we abandon the podcast, I vote to replace it with the newsletter. If we abandon the newsletter, then leaving the whole thing alone is fine too and leave it all up to the forums. Yes. I will now go find a way to get you guys download access to the podcast. I'll let you know when it's up and ready!

"...that's not what we're trying to do here." The best laid plans...
Anyhow, I might have a solution for your space troubles. It just so happens that I have a brand spankin' Gentoo install on a laptop I rarely use. I've got 20 gigs of space to do whatever with. If you're interested, shoot me a line. I'm sure we can work somethin' out.
