Here is a small list of websites that have helpful information on the various things that one should avoid, and things that you should do while RPing. Call it tips for RPing if you will. I suggest that you at least skim them since they contain tender nuggets of info. Pay special atention to the stuff that can get you into trouble. I also suggest that we compile a list of offenses from these sites that will get you in trouble. Please take these links to heart. www.nocturne.org/jason/mgs/index.phpProvides a list of slang terms to describe various behaviors of RPers. Some are good, some are frowned on, and some will get you booted from any forum quicker than you can even imagine. atrocities.primaryerror.net/rpgcliches.htmlA RPG cliche list. Some are meant to be funny, but it can be helpful to know what to avoid so the RPG doesn't turn bland. www.rpg.net/columns/list-column.phtml?colname=kosherA set of articles that outlines some basic rules of RPG's to keep things fair. Also take a look at the column's mother site, RPGnet. They have tons of articles and many other stuff on any RPG related topic that you could think of. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Role-playing_game_termsWikipedia's entry's detailing some gaming terminology.

Hey, Momaru, in your latest post, you in the RPG don't know who I am but you refer to me as Kaito.... It's confusing to everyone... So a rule to add: No switching from 1st to 3rd person and switching to RP to real life unless you want to make a comment/suggestion.

Thank you Momaru for posting these links to help us out. I think that it is a good idea for everyone to know certain guidelines while RPing. How about this, we all provide input on what we would like to be included in the rules. I typed the original set of rules since I figured these were just the obvious things to follow, but it looks like we need a little more guidance. After we discuss it a bit, I will put up the updated rules regarding role playing. We want this to work for everyone so we need to find a common ground. Everyone, please be considerate, open minded, and flexible. Do not flame an idea without first considering what the person's reasons were and in fact never flame! We don't want a generally negative attitude toward Eon and it's not to late to fix any problems since we haven't technically started yet. Please post up your ideas for general forum and RP rules, thanks!

Ahh Kaito, actually I did something wrong there in order to be more descriptive. Technically that was outside knowledge that I shouldn't have used. So sorry I didn't catch it. See? the links really did help! But as to all my links being rules, that wasn't my intent. I was just providing places to go so you could bone up, or answer your own questions. Yes, it does have info on things that will get you banned most places, but it also has info on how to keep things fair, and even how to make your RPG's story more interesting. Most of this qualifys as good gaming etiquette and should be followed no matter what RPG you are playing. Most of its common sense, but it should help to avoid problems by knowing what some of them could be before they even happen. Oh, and that vampire RPG had very little rules. I have seen places where you got to take like a 100 question quiz on the subject, Gundam SEED in this case, before you could join their forum. And get a C or better. That is what I call overkill.

Another thing that I have been noticeing. It's what I like to call not giveng people a chance to react. Basically its like this. It should be more like this: "Not so fast!" he said. He shot two beam of ice from his hands at the two figures near there feet. Notice the difference? Ideally you should always give others a chance to react to your attacks against them. Yes, this means they might decide to doge your attack, but you also might hit them. It creates suspense as to weather you hit or not. I suppose if you wanted to get all technical about it you should roll a die and a 3 or greater is a hit. Don't always dodge peoples attacks either (duh!), that's just boring. I usually just play things by ear if I get hit or not. I usually let the opponent decides what, and how much damage they take within reasonable limits. For instance,if you get shot, it's not just gonna scratch a normal person. This is just how I usually do things.
