Please take a minute to read and listen to this. It's very VERY important that you write your representatives about this, the world as we know of art will be gone forever. www.sellyourtvconceptnow.com/orphan.htmlI'm not jokeing here folks this is important for me and all you as well on Eon. So take the time to look it over.

What the hell do these people think that they're doing?! This act will destroy every artist who can't pay for non-existent registries?!

I don't... really don't think that's going to happen. Someone did an excellent article relating to that on DeviantART but... I can't seem to find it. I know I shared the link with Draga so maybe she remembers where it was. But in any case, I honestly don't think they can do that. I mean, there are millions and millions of artists out there, I don't think they can stand against a bunch of us. And I'm a bit ditsy today so wheeee~

Mmyeah. After a three or so second search and maybe five minutes of reading tells me you're already blowing this waaay out of proportion. The website you linked seemed rather sensationalist, and from what I've read the bill that is referenced in your link won't affect any of you. While it is doubtful that it will even pass, if it is it won't matter. The bill is about orphaned works, which none of your works are. The only way the copyright is waived is if the user of the work can prove that a reasonable search was made to find the owner. Therefore, if it's on any art website (SheezyArt, DeviantArt, FurAffinity, whatever) "reasonable search" would include sending you a PM or e-mailing you via your contact information. So yeah. No, it isn't dangerous. No, it won't affect you. Some facts: "The Copyright Office has completed its study of problems related to “orphan works”—copyrighted works whose owners may be impossible to identify and locate." - www.copyright.gov/orphan/ (Bold added for emphasis) "“Orphan Works” are copyrighted works — books, music, records, films, etc — whose owner cannot be located. Works can become “orphaned” for a number of reasons: the owner did not register the work, the owner sold rights in the work and did not register the transfer, the owner died and his heirs cannot be found …" - www.publicknowledge.org/issues/owSo unless you happen to die or disappear off the face of the earth, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Hope this makes everyone feel, um... A bit better about this.

Just like Keitaro said, it also said so on DA that orphaned works are artwork in which the original artist couldn't be found on the internet. We have DA, SA, FA, and all those websites where we display our artwork, so we're safe from this bill.
