With insomnia comes wisdom, am I right? So I was up at 3 Am with Tusami, talking about Eon as usual, when I got an Idea, so here goes.
We've always thought of the Eon Institute as a school, but should we really? Most Eons go there because they have no where else to go, so it would make sense that the Eons think of it more as a safehouse than a school, they just think of the school aspect as a bonus. If we change this, A) It gets away from the cliche school + mutants thing made famous by X-men, Maximum Ride, ect. and B) It has more convincing reasons for the Eons to want to go to the 'other side'.
Currently, we have the temptation of stricter teachers, but later curfew, better food, ect. Think about it, if you were and Eon at the school, you'd probably say "Screw the curfew, I'm staying up anyways" kinda like in real life. And nobody is really willing to try to get to the other side for just some better food, because school food isn't the worst ever usually.
If it were a safe house, the Eons would get crappy dorms, food, everything would be dirty, like homeless shelters today. So, on the other side, you'd have real furniture in your room, steak for dinner, everything is clean, ect.
If the Eons are just there for free stuff, it's not gonna be that great. If they prove themselves worthy for such great service (Read: able to be turned into super weapons), they go to the other side. This also makes the Eons less suspicious of security cameras and stuff.
If it were a school they be like "Okay, why the hell are these cameras watching me sleep?"
Safehouse: They're watching us to make sure we're being good, so I'm gonna do my best for them so I can get out of this shithole! *triumphant*"
[random thoughts] It'd also make a trip for ice cream all the more necessary. Like ice cream would never be on the menu, so lets get some![/random]
Now we don't have to name it with the suffixes like institute, collage, university, school, ect!
Yay, we can finally name the Safehouse/school!
Open for discussion.

I like that idea, Kaito... though we should still refer to it as a school, I think. It'd make sneaking out more fun too xD Also, it'd open up the door for more role-plays. I mean, no one really wants to role-play through an entire history lecture ["Ani falls asleep" "Kama falls asleep" "Eirra falls asleep" THE END XD XD XD ], but we could do ones like, sneaking out of the school for ice cream or for fun in the dead of night xD That's my thought, anyway. I'll elborate more when I'm not so tired XD

Interesting idea; it certainly ups the deviousness of the LIGHT group if they have the Eons believe this is somewhere safe and then continue the experiments on "special" subjects. That and like you mentioned it is a bit less "cliché" Here's my vote for it!

Actually, I do disagree with one thing: I don't think only special Eons should be experimented on; I think all of them should, because the government is going to want as many weapons as they can have. So some might need less experimentation, like Eirra, and some might need more. Some might not need any, like Darius, because they are on LIGHT's side to begin with. I don't think there should be special area either, because then Eon's will start wondering where they keep disappearing too, and the whole thing would unravel in seconds, rather then the years it takes now. The ones who suceed in becoming weapons, I think, should be held until they're 18/21/whatever, and then they 'graduate' and disappear. That way, there's no suspicion as to where they go. The graduating Eons are taken into the labs, and brainwashed or whatever, turned into weapons, and then possibly employed by different parts of the government? I.E. A anti-terrorist unit takes some, others stay and help with Eon [Like Kaito and Darius], others do homeland security, or catch serial killers, or assinate people that bother the government. Or was that what you were saying all along? If it was, disregard this entire thing. But I think the problem with the 'other side' is, how do they get over there? How do they earn that priveledge? By being better weapons? But the Eons don't know their supposed to be weapons, so the motives would be a suspicious mystery to them. Also, perhaps the Eons should have a nickname for the Safehouse? I was thinking 'the Haven'. Or we could just say 'the Safehouse'. You know, whatever. Just my thoughts.

Maybe part of the curriculum for the "school" part is to help each Eon develop their skills and those that the government deem promising based not just on their powers but possibly to how well they can be "programed" (read: brainwashed) are the "special" ones.

Okay, the nickname IS Heaven thus far (refer to my quote under my icon.) Yes, they choose the Eons seemingly at random for the other side, depending on which area of expertise each Eon can be tailored to, so the Eons just emphasize what they're good at, and LIGHT decides how to profit from it.
Eirra, I like the idea of the whole "Graduating" thing, but if we no longer think of it as a school, we can just have another upgrade from the other side, where they are 'transfered' to another facility for even more privileges and stuff. (aka being experimented on)
Hope this clears up your questions for now.

Yeah ok, maybe I can help this thing out a little bit too...
So for Eirra mostly, but everyone needs to read, here's how it works: The safehouse is basically a huge homeless shelter for Eons that LIGHT "out of the graciousness of their hearts" set up. Now of course no one actually knows that LIGHT is behind this and they'll probably come up with some other organization name to disguise themselves. The whole reason for actually setting up this facility is that the Eons keep escaping from LIGHT's labs; though they've changed a lot of their newer experimentation techniques recently and there have been a lot less breakouts, there are still hundreds if not thousands of Eons running free from before. So LIGHT creates these shelters as a way to lure the Eons back in their hands so they can continue their experimentations.
It's actually quite essential to have the "crappy side" and the "good side" of the institute for several reasons. First off, it doesn't create suspicion. The Eons living on the crappy side think that if they do good they will be rewarded by going to the other side. The Eons outside of the safehouse will hear that it is a place to stay and these people want to help out with their powers and that if they do good they can go to the other side. The normal people will think "At least someone's taking care of the Eons" either by thinking they'll help them or get rid of the "Eon problem" and keeping them away from society. So the humans on both sides of the Eon issue are fine with it too. Now that's what LIGHT wants you to think. Obviously what they are doing is making it really easy to get their hands on the escaped Eons again without any force necessary. On the crappy side they are able to observe the Eons as well as keep their doors open for more Eons to shuffle in. Their targets and candidates for admitting Eons to the other side can be chosen at random, based on the observations of an Eon and their and performances, the ones that have been there for a long time, or the ones that actually have been doing a good job in the crappy side to "earn the right to go to the other side." Whatever LIGHT's methods for picking a choosing and the excuses and reasons they'll give out to the Eons for doing so, it still seems completely un-suspicious to Eons and the rest of the world. The most common excuse will be that an "Eon has done very well and has earned the right to be there." This not only explains why and where Eons disappear to but also gives the rest of the Eons a motivation boost to do better in their performance... making it easier for LIGHT to choose prime candidates for super weapons and experimentation... and best of all, the Eons are doing it all on their own out of their own free-will (for now).
And then LIGHT's reason for having such a high defense and guard around the building is to protect the Eons inside from the outside harm. It makes the Eons think they are safe. No one is allowed to leave until they sign out. And there are guards and such that are posted outside to protect and admit new Eons. LIGHT makes the Eons think they can leave whenever they want to as long as they make sure they tell LIGHT that they're leaving. This way, Eons won't try or really think about running away. Once the Eon tells LIGHT they're leaving, LIGHT's all like: "lol okies! We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your time here and wish you luck. Just exit through those doors there... *points to deathtrap to the other side*." Eon: lol okies! Bye!" *walks through door never to be seen again* Other Eons: "So sad that the Eon decided to leave, it's great here! I guess we won't hear from him again. Now to go about our lives. lalalala."
Now if we did not have the two sides and Eons were slowly disappearing, that would create a lot more suspicion. Everyone would be like "OMG where'd they go? Did they run away? Did they die? Were they kidnapped? etc" and there would be a feeling of panic and suspicion and gossip and paranoia and tension. More of them would start running away (even though that's quite difficult to do, some still cannot be blocked by simple obstacles) and tell other Eons to stay away because something fishy is going on there and then LIGHT's plan would eventually fail and quite fast. But if there is two sides, everyone would know that the Eons who disappeared were simply transported over to the "good side" and no one would think twice about it... that's exactly what LIGHT wants. It would be more "Oh lucky them! *cough* They must have done a good job and worked hard to get over there. *cough* Hope they have a good time, I can't wait to see them again when I go over! *cough*." End of story. LIGHT wins, Eons think they're winning but lose horridly. No one is suspicious of any foul plays. It's all set up.
That's why LIGHT NEEDS to have the two sides I think. But as for the graduating idea... well that's exactly what the movement from the crappy side to the good side is and eventually leaving the school/safehouse: a right of passage that an Eon has earned. And of course they tell you that eventually you'll have to leave the good side and live on your own to make room for more Eons anyways. But LIGHT will tell Eons that their hope is that "You'll use your knowledge and skills and everything that you've learned at the safehouse to better your lives and prepare you for the future so that you can successfully live on your own and deal with the many pressing issues blah blah etc." So everyone thinks they are there to help.
Now some more things... Communication. Now all Eons are smart enough to figure this one out if they are the slightest bit curious or suspicious. What if two Eons are best buddies and they promise to contact one another once one of them leaves the safe house or is transfered to the other side? Simple, LIGHT won't let them. So how do they do this without raising suspicion? Well I'll tell ya. We've already had the idea of having these cell-phone thingies we'll use to communicate with each other but we didn't have much of an idea on how it would all work. Well I offer you a solution: LIGHT gives all of the Eons in the school a cellphone/pda kind of device. This thing can act as a room key, a planner, class schedule, a meal ticket, communication device, weekly chores and duties, etc. But of course what their other purpose is to take DNA samples of the Eon and use it as a tracking device and performance measurer. Here's LIGHT's deal: you get one of these and you must have it with you at all times. (I mean who wouldn't want one!?) And if you leave, you must turn it in when you sign out. If you are transfered to the other side, you will receive a "better, newer one" that doesn't work with the old devices. They have a limited number of these things and they need to give them to the next person in line to use and hey, you get a better one anyways! Score for you!
Of course the better ones don't really exist. Heheh. Oh and also they only work at a limited range so you can only use them inside of the safehouse and the grounds. They're useless if you take them with you out in the real world and are only compatible with the safehouse's databases and other Eon's devices. This way no one can or would even want to take these things with them when they "leave" and there's no communication with the outside world or even with the other side. No one thinks much of it really because again, most Eons are pretty stupid when it comes to technology. The ones who do understand through will know exactly how compatibility works between different versions of software and such so they're ok with it too and also LIGHT "won't update them" because these devices are "expensive and donated and offer a bunch of other excesses they can come up with." And then LIGHT also halts, inspects, and filters any incoming mail or attempts at communication to the school from the outside, claiming it is for safety reasons.
Ok, here's where we have fun with this. Taro (being the mastermind that he is) takes apart these devices and modifies it for all of us, also discovering some... hidden qualities about it. He's the first to get suspicious really. Everyone else tells him that they have their reasons for putting all that in there for such as safety. Blah blah. All is still pretty and happy and crap in the meantime until we decide to go for the midnight icecream raid. This is when we decide to leave the devices behind on our beds so they can't track us and we sneak to the other side through the vents. We follow several of the group's noses to the staff lounge and we find ice cream in their freezer. But then Ani smells/hears/whatever something from another vent and slips away to investigate. That's when she meets Camio and the rest is history. LIGHT can't seem to figure out who's climbing around in the vents because no little tracking dots are appearing on their screen so they up security and etc. Then we eventually escape and blah blah. The rest will be for a later discussion. Now what's great is that when we run away, our devices will still work because Taro modified them that way. So that's how we eventually get back together and can still talk to each other while we're separated.
One last thing: The School part of it. They provide a nice enough place to stay and eat and such but goody two shoes LIGHT goes out of their way to give Eons a better education! Whoo! So like a school, they sit and they learn shit but this is a little more quick and dirty and relevant to the Eon's future (which is being a slave and fighting alongside LIGHT and such). LIGHT's basically giving out lessons on how to be better superweapons for the benefit of themselves. And for testing. They mostly focus on "Gym Class" where they basically train Eons psychically and help them develop their powers. The rest is learning English better (read/write/communicate better on the battlefield, whatever ^^) learning some history (to give better judgment on what to do by using the past to help the future) and stuff like that. You get the point. All the school is doing is training the Eons to be slaves and superweapons for LIGHT's benefit but everyone else sees it as good, free, helpful education.
Ok wow, if anyone actually read that, thanks a lot for reading. I hope you've gotten a better sense on how this all works and what our idea is like. Comments? Questions? And sorry I write such long posts. XD

That sounds really good Tusami! It just sort of clicks into place and makes sense. This works for me. As far Momaru's involvement; he finds out about the safe house's true nature due to his investigation. It's just a coincidence that his raid and the breakout occur on the same night. I guess someone needs to go with him, at least for a little bit so he can copy/ modify the communicator thingy for himself.

Oh great! I'm glad you're liking it Bryce! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) As for the breakout part, I think we also need to discuss this section in more detail and what better way to do that than start another thread about it? So yeah, we do need the breakout and your raid to happen on the same night. Yey, make more confusion for LIGHT! I have some ideas, but I guess I'll type them up later in that other thread. And as for getting your hands on those devices, it shouldn't be too much of a problem to get them off some Eon the night of the escape. It's probably the easiest if you just pick one off a dead body... but then of course you'll be able to modify it to work, or use that one as a basis for making a reverse-engineered model for yourself that will work with ours. You can probably work with Taro or something later on the make all of ours even better.

actually maybe I do have more but this is a little bit of a tib bit for myself. Why, Tusami, when did you steal my thinkin' brain? No wonder I can't write decently, I can't weave any plots without my thinkin' brain!
Anyways. Tusami, you've done an EXCELLENT job at weaving loose ends together. Now finish off my part in this and we'll call it even.
