Seriously. If you do, crap like this happens. Although it would be an interesting party topic to tell people you happen to have a pencil lodged in your brain... Dib: Ms. Bitters, I think a pencil is lodged in my brain. Can I go to the nurse? Ms. Bitters: How far in your brain? (Dib glances down at the pencil.) Dib: Preeetty far. Ms. Bitters: Alright, take the auxiliary hall pass. </InvaderZimQuote> Sauce: news.aol.com/story/_a/pencil-removed-from-head-after-55-years/20070807153009990001

Holyfuc- Wow... *literally holds my nose* Oh dear god... I can not imagine the pain of that. And I looked at those other x-ray pictures on that site... Daaaaamn! It's remarkable how people can still live after all of that; the one with the table leg or something like that just boggled my mind. I'm just.. wow. These people don't die that easily, apparently! xD

You know that game "Bloody Mary", the one where you close your eyes, recite the words, and your friend pounds you on your back and you see colors. Well, my friend and I were playing that, and he hit me really hard, so my head snapped forward and a pencil went up my nose. It hurt liek hell, and there was lots of blood... o.0

The only place the body would really be able to break down foreign matter like a pencil would be the stomach; the bloodstream could metabolize certain substances, but they would still build up in the body; the brain is basically a collection of cells that in its non-preserved state has the consistency of pudding or gelatin. All they mentioned that happened to the pencil was that it shifted around in the woman's brain as she grew; the pencil looks broken up in the X-ray, but that probably happened when the accident first occured.
Once again, YOWCH. I'm glad they're finally able to help this woman out now that the proper technology exists.
