To not like the police. I'm... I'm not even going to say anything about this one. However, the advice must be stated. 1. If there are police officers nearby, don't fish. 2. If there are both police and snakes in your area, stay inside. 3. If you do let your children play outside, make sure they're wearing full Kevlar body armor. (Mjolnir Mark VI, anyone?) Oh man! That's.. That's just terrible! And just about the dumbest thing ever; I mean for god's sake, the snake shouldn't be moving so how can you fucking miss? BD;;; But that's rediculous.
However, I am not changing my views about police because my dad and my brother is going to try to go into law enforcement so don't you go bad mouthing them. Besides, it was just one stupid officer with no common sense. I mean, he could've at least call the animal control. B(

Well, sorry, Ani, but I really don't like police all that much. There are a few people, some of which I might have even considered my friends, who have been pwned, in one way or another, by the police. The one that angers me most is that of Jeremy Hammond. Hammond was a great guy, and he even helped me out with a few questions I had. He screwed up in an illegal attempt, and the cops arrested him. That's fine with me, really. Hammond made a mistake, and he got arrested. Fine. That's completely within their power. However, when they were searching his apartment and seizing his computer equipment, they also happened to wreak havoc on it, insulting Jeremy all the while. Then, after completely trashing his apartment they hauled him off for hours of questioning. Honestly, I don't think any of that was necessary at all. (Luckily, Jeremy wasn't an idiot. He got five years in prison with conditions after his release. Not bad for what he did.)
Still, it leaves me with a lingering dislike of law enforcement. I've heard of many people, some I knew, others I didn't, who have been terrorized in one way or another by the police. Now, again, I know that there are good people in the force, and I commend them for wanting to uphold justice in out country, even though they seem to be fighting a losing battle. But there are jerks. A lot of them. Far too many, if you ask me. I usually don't automatically dislike people just for being an officer, but if they do crap like that then I have my reasons to dislike them.
Also, I feel noticeably more nervous around police officers for that reason. False arrests... I've even done research, reasonable suspicion can let them search you for weapons. They can also do an illegal search, and if they find anything they can arrest you. In court, judges tend to side with the officers, so even if you claim an illegal search the officer can just say whatever it was was in plain view. So meh.
I don't like their actions and I don't like their methods. So I have REASONS to dislike them, and I doubt anything you guys can say will change that.
So, sorry Ani. Again, though, it's not like I automatically hate your dad for being a sheriff or hate your brother for wanting to join the academy. But if they pull crap like that (I'm not saying they do), then they'll be just like all the others.

Look, that's just fine and dandy that you don't like the police, I don't really give a damn because you have your reasons. I mean for god's sakes, not everybody loves the police and that's cool. They make their own decisions, not me. I just don't want you go shooting out and bad mouthing about how everybody in the law enforcement is terrible people and that all of them are basically stupid. That's not true; admittingly, there are a lot of dumbasses on the law enforcement but there are still true, honest to good policemen out there. I mean, like that policeman guy at Pine Creek, the one with a tan/orange moustache? Don't remember his name but he was just awesome. My dad's a smart man, I trust him not to make dumb choices and that he'll do his job correctly. As for my brother, he's not exactly going to be law enforcement [possibly will way later in his years] but he is gonna go into the navy. 8l Notthepoint.
Hey, I'm sorry about what happened to Jeremy's possessions, I argee, that was indeed unnecessary then again, he wouldn't have gotten into that mess if he didn't do the illegal attempt in the first place. I'm not trying to sound mean, I really am trying to look on both sides of things- I mean, nobody likes a cop that gives you a ticket for speeding only five miles per hour over the limit but still...
I'm sorry Keitaro but you're just being unfair; espeically when you say 'all of the others'. I mean, I don't exactly see you chasing after robbers or partipate in a deadly car chase in order to bring peace back to the neighborhood or trying to save lives. Besides, people in news and medias don't always report the GOOD news, they always report the bad, espeically whenever there's some kind of an abuse so that was really one sided of the arguement.
Well, if they have a reason to search for weapons and/or drugs, then that's understandable. We are in America, where people hide their father's guns in their pants and drugs up their asses. Bl
I'm not saying, 'OMG ALL PAH-LICE R GEWD! U LYAR!' No. I DO argee that some are just rotton and down right terrible; some do use methods that's not even apperopiate and I can understand that. I really do. But you just can't point fingers at most policemen and say that they're terrible and should be shunned.
I apologize if any of this offends you, it wasn't intended as I was trying to make my point.
And I shall shut up now. -twiddles thumbs-
